Our Story

A Legacy of Fragrance Since 1904

In 1904, in the vibrant land of India, a renowned jeweller named F. Chand discovered something extraordinary through one of his esteemed clients — Ambergris, a rare and highly prized perfumery ingredient derived from the digestive system of sperm whales.

Ambergris possessed a delicate marine aroma and was considered one of the most luxurious ingredients in perfumery. Fascinated by its uniqueness, F. Chand acquired some Ambergris and began experimenting with it.

The Birth of Vergis

Driven by his passion for fragrance creation, F. Chand blended Ambergris in more than 150 combinations before finally discovering the perfect harmony with wild vetiver and Mysore sandalwood.

He named this fragrance Vergis.

The scent was rich, elegant, and unlike anything that had existed before.

Fragrances for Royalty

In 1905, F. Chand, who was also the jeweller to the royal family of Punjab, gifted them a beautiful emerald-cut bottle filled with Vergis alongside their jewellery order.

The royals were captivated by the fragrance and requested bespoke perfumes to be created exclusively for them.

For the next four generations, the family curated luxury fragrances only for royal households and elite clients.

Reviving the Legacy

In 2014, the fifth-generation heir returned from Australia to manage the family business.

Although the family was known for jewellery, he became deeply inspired by the forgotten fragrance legacy built over generations.

He decided to revive the tradition by collaborating with internationally acclaimed master perfumers and blending modern luxury with heritage craftsmanship.

The first two fragrances introduced under the revived legacy were Haute Tobacco and Luxe Hayat.

These fragrances received rave reviews from perfume lovers and marked the beginning of a new era.

Inspired by Fine Jewellery

The iconic Scent Court bottle design is inspired by emerald-cut jewellery pieces created by the family’s historic jewellery house.

The shard-inspired shape, luxurious cap, and detailed label design represent elegance, craftsmanship, and timeless luxury.

Every fragrance bottle reflects the same dedication to beauty and detail that has been passed down through generations.
